Comfort Versus Art

I love the fact that everyone has a talent and I also love when they are able to express their talents and actually earn a good living doing it. While I realize that decorating trends come and go, I am beginning to feel that there are many furniture designers who are so focused on creating a unique piece, that they have forgotten that we actually would like to be able to sit in the chair they designed with some level of comfort. I, for one, would like to be able to sit in a chair for more than a few minutes at a time and feel that my back is supported, my arms can gently rest on an arm of the chair, and the seating area isn't way too deep. I have sat down on a lot of sofas and found that my back is nowhere near the back of the seat and I have to actually lean back to reach the pillows. Are there that many tall people running around these days because, if there are, I haven't noticed them. Even if there are, I'm sure they would be more comfortable with their legs hanging over the edge a bit, then not be able to sit with their backs to the back of the seat. I am all for artistic expression, but I really wish that the art of furniture making would encompass the fine art of comfortable living.

Take a look at these chairs and tell me honestly, how long would you want to sit in them?
